Discover How the Buttafly Yoga Block Offers Remedial and Curative Gain

While away in Portugal, I spent an afternoon with a small group of yoga teachers, demonstrating many of the ways the Buttafly can be used as a yoga block. Their excitement was palpable, and their keenness to share was a delight to see.

Over the years, I’ve worked with teachers and therapists who specialise in pregnancy and post-partum classes, those who work with sportsmen and women, particularly runners, cyclists and tennis players, and others who focus on various health conditions. In addition to lower back and mid-back pain, the Buttafly can work very well for people with other musculoskeletal conditions, in particular, hip problems, including before and after a hip replacement and chronic pelvic pain. It is particularly beneficial for pelvic floor release and strengthening programmes like the MUTU System.

Specialist Yoga teachers and therapists find that the Buttafly can be used as an effective support during Yoga and movement practices for people who have a neurological impairment, including due to Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis.

Then there are the people I’ve worked with myself. One summer, three lovely ladies came onto my stand at a festival in Wimborne. They were lifelong friends and had supported each other through the most horrendous health issues. Honestly, there was not a dry eye in the house by the time they finished sharing their stories.

In our time together, I heard about how destabilising it feels to have a mastectomy – how the asymmetry sets up an imbalance, which it seems is not only to do with scar tissue and tight fascia.

“Why the Buttafly – An Introductory Workshop”

If you are a Yoga teacher, a Pilates instructor or a movement therapist of some kind, I’m sure you will agree that one doesn’t need to be a therapist to offer therapeutic value.

How many times have your students told you that they feel much better as a result of doing your classes?

Many practitioners of Yoga and similar movement practices often experience physical discomfort, such as stiff shoulders, dodgy knees, or painful hips.

In fact, it’s not uncommon for individuals to turn to these practices specifically to manage such symptoms. This places a significant responsibility on yoga teachers and other movement practitioners.

From the beginning of June, I will be running regular workshops, both in-person and online, to demonstrate how the Buttafly can help you help your students worry less that their doctor’s advice isn’t helping and quit fretting about the lengthy waiting times to see a physiotherapist.

These sessions offer an opportunity for you to discover the benefits of the Buttafly over a regular rectangular yoga block and how to use it for remedial and curative gain.

Come and explore new ways to help your students continue their preferred practices and manage their symptoms better without relying on pills and chocolate!

Jokes aside, we get serious about helping our students gain more control over their symptoms and enjoy renewed hope for the future.

Practical Applications

Recent Review

I found last evening immensely useful and will now plan to use my wife’s blocks on a regular basis – so thank you very much, both for all the clear information and for your patience with us new to using Buttafly.  The whole session was very informative, including the anatomy and how you put it all into context. I was impressed and delighted – especially as I have Multiple Sclerosis – to find that I found walking and lifting my right leg easier after using the Buttafly, so I will continue to use it. Also, I was pleased to feel that my sacrum was touching the floor at the end of the lying. All in all, a most useful two hours – many thanks.
