Essential Self-Care Techniques for Posture, Digestion & Back Pain

This workshop explores the physical relationship between posture, the spine, and our digestive system.

Simply put, the front of the body is the front of the back, and the back of the body is the back of the front.

It makes sense then that our postural habits will affect our digestion as well as the spine, and also that indigestion will likely affect our posture and perhaps contribute to back pain.

In this workshop, we consider the different aspects of this close relationship between the spine and the digestive system and consider how they impact each other.

We will then master essential posture-based and other self-care exercises to optimise the health of our spine and digestive system.

Do any of these postures look familiar to you? Do you have any digestive problems?

Poor posture is any posture where there is a disturbance to the natural curves of the spine.

Slouched posture:  The normal backward-facing curve of the spine – known as lordosis – is reversed.

Military posture: The chest is lifted with over-extension of the lower part of the spine.

Swayback posture: The hips are pushed forward, all the curves of the spine, exaggerated and the abdominal muscle tone is poor. When viewed from the side it looks like the person is leaning back.

Flatback posture: The lumbar spine is flattened and the pelvis rolls backward in what is known as a posterior pelvic tilt.


Posture Affects Digestion Every Day

Each of the postures above will have a different impact on the organs of digestion:

  • Mouth
  • Oesophagus
  • Stomach
  • Pancreas
  • Gall bladder
  • Liver
  • Small intestines
  • Large intestines
  • Rectum
  • Anus

Common digestive ailments include burping, trapped wind, and constipation are very often, each of these are attributed to diet alone.


Essential Postural Exercises & Self Care

This course covers:

  • 8 essential postural exercises for good digestive health
  • The Buttafly Effect (you will need a STANDARD Buttafly for this)
  • Self-care abdominal massage techniques to aid digestion
  • Self-care technique to release the ilio-caecal valve
  • Explains the benefits and application of castor-oil packs
