We all know that our body is highly sophisticated and has the innate capacity to bring itself back into balance. That said, we rarely, if at all, consider how this applies to the spine and posture but it does – and the Buttafly Technique harnesses it beautifully.
It’s easy enough to do and has become a must-do for people from all walks of life.
For some, the Buttafly lays by their bed, ready for use as soon as they wake up in the morning. For others, it’s the first thing that gets packed when they go off traveling. There are those who’ve finally found something that they can do themselves to relieve their back pain; cyclists who wouldn’t be without it; runners who’ve gained strides with repetitive use, and yoga teachers and therapists who frankly say it’s changed their life.

Back pain is one of the most common causes of sick leave globally, yet most people take very little care of their spine until pain or sciatica becomes a problem. How many people know that they have terrible posture, yet don’t do anything about it?
While complacency may play a part, often the main reason is they don’t know what to do about it. They may have read some books and tried a few different techniques but all without real, tangible change.
Loulou James is a Chartered Physiotherapist, Yoga Teacher, Advanced Arvigo® Therapist (abdominal massage), and Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coach, who is pioneering a truly holistic approach to posture, and spinal care with her creation, the Buttafly.
