SUMMARY:Posture and presence: Finding your centre
DESCRIPTION:What if posture isn’t something we do to the body\, but a dynamic expression of how we meet the world? \nWe often think about posture and alignment in terms of where different parts of the body should be. In yoga\, this can easily become an attempt to make the body fit the pose. But what changes when we turn our attention inwards and begin with our own experience instead? \nIn this practical online workshop\, we’ll explore our relationship with the ground\, pelvis and spine\, and how these foundations influence the way we organise ourselves in stillness and movement. \nThrough simple\, accessible anatomy\, guided awareness\, breath and imagery\, we’ll explore posture from the inside out — noticing habitual patterns\, experiencing our relationship with gravity and discovering a sense of centre from which movement can naturally unfold. \nWe’ll also consider posture as something dynamic rather than fixed: continually adapting to movement\, our surroundings and what life is asking of us. Rather than trying to achieve a perfect posture\, we’ll explore what it feels like to become more centred\, balanced and present within your own body. \nThe emphasis throughout is on turning understanding into experience — taking simple anatomical and biomechanical principles and exploring what they actually mean in your body and your yoga practice. \nSuitable for all levels of yoga practitioner\, from complete beginners to experienced teachers. No previous knowledge of anatomy is needed. \nJoin live or watch the recording\nThis 90-minute workshop will be held live online via Zoom\, giving you the opportunity to learn\, explore and ask questions along the way. \nIf you can’t make it live\, or would simply like to revisit what you’ve learned\, everyone who books will receive access to the workshop recording for 7 days. \nPlease have your yoga mat\, Buttafly if you have one\, and any other props you regularly use to hand. You do not need a Buttafly to take part. \nLed by Loulou James\, Integrative Spine Health Practitioner and founder of the Buttafly. Drawing on more than 40 years of experience\, Loulou brings together a practical understanding of anatomy with guided exploration to help people understand their bodies through their own experience.

SUMMARY:Harnessing the power of the natural breath
DESCRIPTION:Every breath creates movement through the body\, including the spine. What happens when we bring our awareness to this natural rhythm and begin to work with it? \nBreathing is something the body already knows how to do. Yet we can become so focused on breathing techniques\, controlling the breath or trying to breathe “correctly” that we overlook the extraordinary movement already taking place. \nIn this practical online workshop\, we’ll slow down\, tune in and explore the natural breath through our own experience. \nThrough simple\, accessible anatomy and guided awareness\, we’ll look at what happens within the body as we breathe and explore the relationship between the breath\, ribs\, spine and pelvis. \nRather than imposing a particular breathing pattern\, we’ll become curious about the movement that’s already there. We’ll explore how posture and support can influence the freedom of the breath\, and how awareness of this natural rhythm can begin to influence movement\, alignment and our experience of being present in the body. \nThis isn’t about mastering a breathing technique. It’s an opportunity to understand something we do thousands of times every day and experience its relationship with the body in a new way. \nSlow down\, tune in and explore your natural breath — discovering the power within this simple relationship\, and the ease and presence that can emerge.
