A new home for natural back care and spine health
I’m delighted to share that, from October, I’ll be welcoming clients to a new clinic at Phoenix Pathways Wellness & Therapy Centre near Lytchett Matravers in Dorset.
The clinic will offer a calm, dedicated space where I can bring together the different strands of my work: the Buttafly Technique, therapeutic massage, movement and postural exploration, guided relaxation and Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coaching.
Having a space of my own will also allow me to offer more online classes and workshops, making this work accessible to people wherever they are.
At the heart of it all is a question that has shaped my work for many years:
What becomes possible when we give the body the right support?
Looking beyond the place that hurts
Perhaps you’ve experienced back, neck, hip or pelvic pain for months — or even years. You may have tried different treatments or learned to live around your symptoms, making adjustments and compromises along the way.
When something hurts, it’s natural to focus on that particular part of the body. But our experience of pain and discomfort is rarely confined to one isolated area.
The way we move, breathe, sit and stand; the tension we carry; our lifestyle, life experiences and overall wellbeing can all influence how the body feels and responds.
This is why my approach begins with you as a whole person.
There is no single answer for every back. We begin with what you’re experiencing, how it is affecting your life and what you would most like to change. From there, we explore what may best support you.
Depending on your individual needs, your sessions may draw on one or several aspects of my work.
The Buttafly Technique
The Buttafly Technique is a gentle, non-invasive and evidence-based approach to natural back care.
Using the patented Standard Buttafly beneath the pelvis while you rest on your back, the body is supported in a very precise way. This creates the conditions for long-held tension to release and allows the body to reorganise with greater ease and balance.
People often notice freer movement, improved posture and alignment, better balance and relief from back, neck, hip or pelvic discomfort.
The Technique can also complement yoga, Pilates, training, sport and other forms of bodywork. It may help the body integrate and maintain changes between sessions, release tension held through bracing patterns and recover after repetitive or one-sided loading.
Therapeutic massage
Therapeutic massage offers gentle, responsive hands-on support that is guided by what I find within your body.
Rather than working only where discomfort is felt, I may include the back, abdomen — what I often describe as the front of the back — pelvis and hips.
This whole-body approach can support release, comfort and a greater sense of ease throughout the body.
Mindfulness, meditation and relaxation
Sometimes the body needs space to slow down, settle and be heard.
Guided meditation, mindful awareness and other relaxation practices may be woven into a session to help you listen more closely to your body and notice what it may be communicating.
This is not about forcing the body to relax or trying to make it behave differently. It is an invitation to become curious about what is already happening and to explore what might change when the body feels sufficiently supported.
Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coaching
Our health is shaped by more than our physical structure alone.
Lifestyle Prescriptions® is an evidence-based, root-cause approach that looks beyond symptoms to explore the wider influences on health and wellbeing. It can offer another layer of understanding, particularly when symptoms are persistent or appear to be connected with broader patterns in your life.
Bringing more than 40 years of experience together
I’m a Spine Health Specialist, retired physiotherapist, yoga teacher, health coach and educator, with more than 40 years of clinical and teaching experience across international settings, the NHS, military and private practice.
My own recovery after fracturing my sacrum led to the development of the Buttafly Technique and deepened my exploration of the body’s innate wisdom and capacity for change.
Over the years, the different strands of my experience have increasingly come together. This new clinic gives me a beautiful opportunity to offer them within a personalised, whole-person approach to natural back care and long-term spine health.
Whether you are living with a longstanding problem, recovering from surgery or injury, noticing changes in your movement or simply wanting to feel more comfortable and at home in your body, you are very welcome.
