What is the Buttafly Technique?

The Buttafly is carefully  positioned in supine lying to effectively ‘float’ the base of the spine. This has the effect of facilitating a natural release and realignment of the spine, orchestrated by the wisdom in your body and bringing your whole being back into balance.

The Buttafly Technique is very different from having a hands-on treatment where the spine is mobilised or manipulated from the outside.

Rather, the spine is given a chance to find its way, at its own pace, and in harmony with the whole of you.

The Buttafly Effect

In many cases, the benefits of the Buttafly Technique are far greater than could be imagined for such a ‘low level’ of intervention – hence our use of the term the Buttafly Effect.

This is because the Technique impacts not only the structure of the spine itself but also the craniosacral and nervous systems that run through the spinal canal. These are the principle governing systems of the body and supporting them in this way promotes deep relaxation and healing from the inside.

Who Invented the Buttafly Technique?

The Buttafly and this exciting development for the treatment of back pain has been developed by Loulou James, MCSP (Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy), an intuitive and experienced Spinal Health Specialist with 30 years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist in the NHS, the military, and private practice. 

It’s how Loulou cured her back problems after fracturing her spine in a roller-blading accident. Since then, she’s gone on to use it with the majority of her clients and finds that everyone feels the benefit.
