Sorting Fact From Fiction When It Comes To Posture & Back Pain

There are a good many myths regarding the best way to achieve posture and ‘keep your abdominal muscles braced’ is up there with the worst of them.

It’s more than shocking to see this listed in an article on “Why Posture Matters” on the Harvard Publishing website.

Not one muscle – or group of muscles – should be consciously, purposefully and continuously engaged. The body doesn’t work like that.

The big problem with this particular cue is that it can do a lot of harm adversely affecting digestion, breathing, vocalisation and continence.
