Harnessing the power of the natural breath

Every breath creates movement through the body, including the spine. What happens when we bring our awareness to this natural rhythm and begin to work with it?

Breathing is something the body already knows how to do. Yet we can become so focused on breathing techniques, controlling the breath or trying to breathe “correctly” that we overlook the extraordinary movement already taking place.

In this practical online workshop, we’ll slow down, tune in and explore the natural breath through our own experience.

Through simple, accessible anatomy and guided awareness, we’ll look at what happens within the body as we breathe and explore the relationship between the breath, ribs, spine and pelvis.

Rather than imposing a particular breathing pattern, we’ll become curious about the movement that’s already there. We’ll explore how posture and support can influence the freedom of the breath, and how awareness of this natural rhythm can begin to influence movement, alignment and our experience of being present in the body.

This isn’t about mastering a breathing technique. It’s an opportunity to understand something we do thousands of times every day and experience its relationship with the body in a new way.

Slow down, tune in and explore your natural breath — discovering the power within this simple relationship, and the ease and presence that can emerge.

Suitable for all levels of yoga practitioner, from complete beginners to experienced teachers. No previous knowledge of anatomy is needed.
