Learn the Buttafly Technique for your yoga practice
Would you like to explore a way to set down the busyness of your day and arrive more fully on your mat, ready for your regular yoga practice?
You may already begin with Savasana, allowing time to settle and turn your attention inwards. But what would it be like to prepare for Savasana itself — to help your body unwind so that resting feels more comfortable and easeful?
The Buttafly Technique offers a therapeutic self-care practice in which precise support beneath the pelvis invites the body’s innate intelligence to respond through the spine. People describe experiences of lightness, stillness and greater ease in their alignment, offering a different starting point for rest and movement.
A simple practice with deeper dimensions
Craniosacral practitioners have described the Buttafly as acting as a still-point inducer. This resonates with my experience of the deep stillness that can arise through the Technique, and informs my continuing enquiry into its relationship with craniosacral rhythms.
Within yoga, the spine also has significance as the pathway associated with kundalini, the potential for awakening described in yogic traditions. Exploring the relationship between spinal release, stillness and this inner experience forms part of my understanding of the Buttafly Effect.
This small-group workshop brings that enquiry into practical learning. You’ll receive a full explanation of the Technique, individual guidance on its precise setup, and an understanding of how and when to use it within your own practice.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for yoga practitioners, including those early in their practice. Yoga teachers are welcome to attend for their own personal use.
You need to be able to get down to and up from the floor independently, using a chair for support if needed. You are welcome to sit on a chair during the explanations and discussion.
Please note:
- Places are limited to eight participants to allow time for individual setup guidance, questions and personal exploration.
- A Standard Buttafly is provided for use during the workshop, so you do not need to own one to attend.
- This workshop requires a minimum of four participants. If the minimum is not reached, you’ll be notified 72 hours beforehand and offered a full refund or transfer to another date.
Personal practice and professional training
The Buttafly Technique is a therapeutic technique that can also be practised for self-care in everyday life, as well as in preparation for yoga. This workshop teaches you to use it for yourself; it does not authorise you to teach others, lead the Technique in classes or groups, or offer it professionally.
Professionals qualified and insured to offer hands-on modalities can enquire about the separate Buttafly Technique practitioner training pathway.
